Lead with Intention

Attaining goals is rewarding and doing things on purpose (acting with intention) is the most effective and valuable way to achieve those results. When there are clear outcomes based on a compelling and meaningful vision, relevant guidelines, and reasonable expectations, the organization's objectives and initiatives are poised for success.

Then its up to the leadership to set up their individuals and teams for success with the simple framework of -- Equip, Include, Empower.

• Equip individuals/teams with the appropriate tools, resources, and timelines to be successful. Equipping them sufficiently for the specific work to be performed which will enable them to sufficiently achieve the intended outcome, in the best way possible.

• Include individuals/teams in the planning and objectives for shared awareness and perspectives. Review obstacles and hurdles and risks and gaps that might arise, review what's possible and what could happen when everything goes right, review input and gain buy-in from those involved for collective contribution and ownership.

•Empower individuals/teams to carry out the leader's intent with some flexibility and authority to make relevant decisions. Provide the expected framework and accountability needed with enough autonomy and trust for the process to be carried out with minimal or no oversight.

Leading with Intention is about showing up each day, on purpose, to accomplish meaningful objectives. It's a conscience effort for thriving leaders to think and act with deliberate purpose. When leading with intention, thriving leaders think about -- why does this matter, what is the most efficient way to achieve the outcome, how does this impact those performing the work and affected by the outcome?

Leaders are encouraged to consider if their work and focus is on achieving Mission or metrics, Innovating and Improving or just maintaining, and Adding Value or collecting stats/revenue.
