Choose your Attitude, Choose your Response, Choose your Mindset.

No doubt being an effective leader is challenging and can be very burdensome and stressful at times. If we get stuck in the fixed mindset of limited resources and skills, meeting metrics and regulations, and avoiding risks, we allow for the circumstances to dictate our success and we are resigned to just moving along with what is.

If instead we can view these challenges as opportunities and burdens as challenges to overcome, then we can create our own possibilities. When we view situations as a chance to continuously grow and improve ourselves, others, and the organization, then we live in an infinitely limitless world of possibility. Just imagine what could happen if ..… imagine what could happen when ….. and if we don't have the right resources, people, systems, budget, time, etc., then we can work to create a more ideal situation at best, and we can at least choose how we approach and handle the situation at worst. We don’t allow circumstance and other people to limit us, and we certainly don’t limit ourselves.

Consider What Is Yet To Be and How Can We. Look for Growth Opportunities.

With a GROWTH Mindset we are continually using a lens of CHOICE FOR THE BETTER.

Common Examples:

  • This Is Too Hard = This is going to take some more time and effort, or, I’ve got to figure out a new solution, or, How can I learn something new and get some help on this.

  • I’m Not Good At This = I’m not great at this YET, or, Who is great at this that can help me out, or, This is an area I can learn something new and expand my skillset.

  • This Doesn’t Work = What are some other options

Notice times when you or others get Stuck In The Now, and just pause, breathe, and reframe the situation into What Could Be. Challenge the assumptions as facts and consider alternative perspectives. Then Move Forward and appreciate the value of the progress and effort you’re making along the way. Change can be gradual or sudden, but Growth tends to be incremental over time, experience, and feeding, so keep feeding yourself productive choices to gain more experiences, with those slight shifts to a better outcome.

Keep an Open Mind, Stay Curious, and Choose Growth.
