Being a Leader is NOT ...
Being a Leader is not about what that leader has done, about their status, or their power. Effective Leadership is not even about the leader at all.

An approach to Leading that has been shown to be effective is really about getting others from one place or a current state to another.
Leadership roles in organizations include many factors and involve a heavy dose of administration and management to keep things running. While performing the job description and functions of being managers and administrators, if we can incorporate some Leadership principles, our jobs and lives, and those of others we are responsible for, can be vastly enhanced and made more effective.
Applied Leadership Principles are really centered around three areas of: Direction - Alignment - Development.
1) Set a clear Direction with a compelling vision, expectations, and accountability.
2) Align others around a meaningful purpose.
3) Develop and Influence others to achieve mission objectives and growth.
Actual Leadership cannot be a surface level set of positions, titles, authorities, spotlights, or accomplishments. We are all encouraged to take a perspective and an approach where we are intentionally guiding and growing others to meet or exceed outcomes for themselves and the organization.
